UPSC Civil Services Exam popularly known as the IAS Exam is conducted every year for recruitment to the civil services of India. The syllabus covers multiple topics from various subjects. In this article, we will discuss the IAS Exam Syllabus for General Studies.

There are 2 compulsory language papers, 4 general studies papers, and 2 optional papers in the UPSC (IAS) Mains.

the candidates can easily get negative marking in the UPSC Exam. In other words, 3 incorrect answers will lead to around 1 mark deduction. In short, the candidate will get a 1/3 mark deducted for incorrect answers. Also, there is no negative marking for blank answers.

It is mandatory for all the candidates to appear for both the exams viz General Studies and CSAT to qualify for the Mains. The score obtained in the Prelims will not be added to the final score.
