TPM Is Absent In Dell Inspiron 3558 -Still Upgrade windows 11

What is a TPM?

TPM is a security technology that increases the system security against software vulnerabilities.

Practically, the TPM is used for multiple features that increase the security of your device:

• BitLocker Drive Encryption: Automatically encrypts the system drive to keep your data safe.
• Data Execution Prevention: Prevents unauthorized applications like malware from executing in memory.
• Windows Hello: Secure user authentication without password.
• Secure Boot and Measured Boot: Block malicious drivers and rootkits from intercepting the boot process of the Operating system.

I am enrolled to Windows Insider. So I usually get insider updates for Windows 10. The latest update which I received is Windows 11 and it is running great with no issues. I am using Inspiron 3558. 5th Gen i3 Processor. My laptop has no TPM and I did no changes to settings other than accepting the Windows 11 upgrade.

Some Dell systems alike 3558 do not ship with a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) module, and instead, use PTT (Platform Trust Technology). PTT is a lower-cost solution that supports the same functions of the TPM. From an OS perspective, there is very little difference between how TPM and PTT interact with bit locker. If a customer is complaining about being prompted for a BitLocker key (usually after a motherboard replacement) and there is no option for TPM in the BIOS, they may need to enable PTT.

Symptom:

• Prompted for BitLocker recover key on preboot
• No option for TPM in BIOS Setting, which is under security, only PTT

Solution:

If there is no TPM listed in the Service Tag Lookup, please follow the steps below:

1. Access to the Bios Setting
2. Under Security, verify the Status on PTT Security, ensure the PTT Security is PTT ON and Enabled.
3. Reboot and login to the operation system, try to set up BitLocker within the OS.

it clearly shows that your pc is not shipped with TPM So go in boot manager and ,

• Access to the Bios Setting
• Under Security, verify the Status on PTT Security, ensure the PTT Security is PTT ON and Enabled.
• Reboot and login to the operation system, try to set up BitLocker within the OS.
